ABOUT CLOS SOLÈNE

The Westside Vineyards

For the past 10 years, Clos Solène has been purchasing fruit, and will most likely always purchase fruit. As a Rhone producer, 90% of the wine he makes is Rhone inspired, but Guillaume likes to play with other varieties to learn and accomplish something he couldn’t do in France. Guillaume’s philosophy is to create blends that represent different soil types and climates and to achieve this you must use many different terroirs. However, all of the fruit that is purchased is coming from the west side of Paso Robles, mainly from the Willow Creek District and the Adelaida District. The soil types represented are clay, loam, calcareous, limestone, and shell. The west side of Paso Robles is highly influenced by the Pacific Ocean with cool nights, foggy mornings, and warm days. This region is known for having the largest day to night temperate swing, as much as 50 degrees, of any growing region in California.

Bien Nacido Vineyard

As Guillaume’s passion for California soil grew, Clos Solène started to lease some of the best blocks of Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Chardonnay from Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Maria Valley. Bien Nacido is recognized for its meticulously maintained vines and for its cool climate influences. Clos Solène makes limited production cuvées for their wine club members from Pommard and Martini clones.

The Estate Vines

When Guillaume and Solène acquired the estate in January of 2017, the existing vineyard was planted in 1998 onto vigorous rootstock. The rows were planted a little wider than Guillaume would have planted, but he felt that it was a great place to start, especially having 20-year-old vines in place, which is considered “old vines” for this area. After testing to make sure the vines were clean of any and all viruses, Guillaume decided to re-graft the whole 8 acres and turn the plot into a nursery for future planting. Today, there are 10 different varieties and 16 different clones. Half of the vineyard was grafted to Rhone varieties (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre). The Rhone varieties were grafted based on the soil, mostly shale with steeper slopes. The other half of the vineyard was grafted with Bordeaux varieties, where the soil has a better capability to hold water.

ABOUT FULLDRAW

Fulldraw began in 2012 when Connor McMahon jumped on the opportunity to acquire a 100-acre vineyard site in the Templeton Gap of west side Paso Robles. He and Rebecca met later that year. With six years of winemaking and farming experience at adjacent property, Booker Vineyard, Connor understood that with its limestone soils and cooling maritime influences, this was a place where the Rhone varieties he loved would thrive. Connor works closely with crew members following organic and regenerative farming practices in order to best take advantage of the site's demanding soil and extreme exposures. Fulldraw aims to create a sustainable and healthy environment for each and every vine in order for the resulting fruit to translate into beautifully balanced wines that fully express the unique place that is their home.

ABOUT BENOM

BENOM is the phonetic translation of the French word binôme, which translates to “a project together. They are brothers, they are French, and for them making wine is a heritage. Arnaud & Guillaume Fabre moved to California for love. For Guillaume, it was his passion for winemaking and farming without limits that brought him to Paso Robles. This love led him to one of the most prestigious wineries in Paso Robles, L’Aventure, and eventually to start his own winery, Clos Solène. Arnaud’s story is much more like that of a movie scene. His move to California was to follow the love of his life, Chloe. This is how the two brothers -Les Deux Frères Fabre- ended up in Paso Robles. The story gets far more interesting, but you will have to come find out for yourself! As a tribute to the six-generation family legacy in the Languedoc-Roussillon and Bordeaux regions, BENOM harmoniously combines the freedom of winemaking in Paso Robles with the innate talent of the Fabre bloodline.

ABOUT L’AVENTURE

Following his education at L'Ecole Oenologique de Macon, Burgundy, France, Stephan established Domaine de Courteillac in Bordeaux in 1982. Over the next 15 years, Stephan developed into an artisan winemaker of fastidious craftsmanship and gained a reputation as a maverick vigneron. However, his true desire was to be more innovative than AOC law would allow.

Stephan wanted to expand his expertise while gaining more freedom in viticulture and vinification. In 1998, the Asseo family left Bordeaux and searched for over a year within the world's great wine regions, ranging from South Africa to Lebanon, Argentina to Napa, but they fell in love with the unique terroir of west side Paso Robles and L'Aventure was born.

Stephan's philosophy of winemaking stems from a production driven mentality. Our wines reflect the vintage and terroir of Paso Robles. Optimus and Estate Cuvée are both wines that are Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot blends. In these wines, as well as in our Rhône blend Côte à Côte (among others), the blending of premium varieties increases the authenticity, complexity, and balance of the wines.

One of our core values at L'Aventure is family. In 2013, much to the delight of her parents, Chloé decided to join the family business. Since then, her role has expanded into managing the entire operation. The family dynamic does not end with the Asseos, as the true meaning of family extends not only to our partners, the Thiénot family, but also to our amazing team here at L'Aventure.

In July of 2023, L'Aventure celebrated its 25th anniversary. This milestone comes with many accomplishments including becoming 100% estate produced, completing the construction of our new tasting room and caves, partnering with the Thiénot family, acquiring a new vineyard, and doing more collaborative wine projects. Our focus on quality continues as we evolve with innovative ideas while still respecting our roots.

Boy Named Banjo

In a time when the popular choice is to chase the double yellow line down the road to country radio, Boy Named Banjo thrives on its fringes. The Nashville-raised five-piece is a fusion of contemporary country, Americana and folk-rock stacked on a foundation of bluegrass. The band, which has been together in some iteration since members were in high school, includes Barton Davies (banjo), Ford Garrard (stand-up bass), Sam McCullough (drums) Willard Logan (mandolin, acoustic/electric guitar) and William Reames (acoustic guitar/harmonica). Reames and Logan played in a middle school garage rock band together, but it wasn't until Reames met Davies in high school that Boy Named Banjo started taking shape. Garrard and McCullough joined later and together the five guys comprise the band Boy Named Banjo that we know today. Boy Named Banjo has crafted a sound that incorporates an energetic blend of country, bluegrass, alt-rock, and folk-pop telling their stories through an honest, emotional, roots-driven perspective. In April 2020, Boy Named Banjo signed a record deal with Mercury Records Nashville and released their debut EP, Circles, the following year. The band is currently in the studio writing and recording new music as well playing some of country music’s largest festivals as they prepare to head out on the road this fall as direct support to multi-PLATINUM singer/songwriter, Kip Moore on his Fire on Wheels Tour. It’s all about storytelling for 21-year old artist/songwriter, Virginia Beach native and 2021 Pandora Artist To Watch, Alana Springsteen. She began writing songs - music and lyrics - at just nine years of age, and it’s those songs that landed her a publishing deal upon arrival in Nashville, TN. Having released music independently - and already amassing over 50 million on-demand streams in just over a year - Alana is quickly becoming one of country music’s most sought-after fresh new voices.

Alana grew up leading worship in church with both of her grandfather's being Pastors of their Churches. Three years after picking up the guitar, she was performing the National Anthem for the Chicago Cubs at historic Wrigley Field. Before she knew it, Alana was writing songs in Nashville with Kristian Bush of Sugarland, and even performed their smash hit song, “Baby Girl,” on stage with the band in her hometown of Virginia Beach at the age of 11. Alana released her Luke Wooten produced debut self-titled EP featuring focus tracks “Always Gonna Love You” and “Slow Down”. By divine intervention, Alana’s Lyft driving father gave Curb recording Artist Filmore a ride that year as well, which led to Filmore inviting Alana on tour with him as well as a duet released this last month called “Think About You”. Since releasing her debut EP in June 2019, Alana’s music has achieved over 14 million streams so far across platforms. Alana has been keeping busy with tour dates opening up for both Josh Turner and Filmore this past summer and fall. She also has been on the road performing for kids at Boys & Girls Clubs across America, including their Keystone Conference held in Orlando, FL. Alana had her music video for “Always Gonna Love You” chosen to be featured for CMT’s Artist Discovery Program this past July. Alana has been a featured artist for iHeartRadio’s Digital Integration Program twice within the past year.

A Calistoga, California native, Shelby Darrall grew up with a love of music sparked by her father, Chuck, and his band SilverCreek. Growing up, Darrall performed in the tasting rooms of wineries throughout Napa Valley and later moved to Nashville to pursue her musical dreams and finish school at Belmont University. Her combination of wit and depth lyrically as well as her unique voice quickly gained the respect of the Nashville songwriting community, where she co-wrote with esteemed industry veterans Brett James, Troy Verges, and Emily Weisband, and collaborated with artists including Jake Owen, Larry Fleet, and Josh Kerr. Darrall’s debut EP, “Entertainment For The Brokenhearted”, the first song off her forthcoming EP, “Love Me When I’m Leavin’,” was dubbed as “the perfect heartbreak anthem” by People.
